• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Multiple part textures in FSDS3

Hi,

Can anyone help with a quick question? Is it possible to add more than one texture to a part in FSDS3? I've created a fuselage as one long cylinder, and my 512x512 texture file is stretched along this part. What I want to do is to add several 512x512 files along the length of the fuselage.

Is the only way to achieve this to make several shorter fuselage sections as individual parts and then join them all together?

If so, can anyone tell me what the ideal length is for a section to comfortably fit a 512x512 texture file?

Thanks

Karl

Perhaps I don't understand too well what you're trying to do, but when you take a texture template of, say, your fuselage part, you can make it 512x512. You're not limited, though, to keeping it at 512x512, but you can increase it to 1024x1024 and do you texturing like that.

IF you want to work off several textures, though, then I would suggest that you take your templates off screenshots where you can keep all the captures the same relative scale:

(go into expanded mode, CTRL-H to show just that part) take a screen shot of say the forward fuselage, recenter (without changing the zoom!!) and take another screen shot etc.

That way you can split the fusealge into logical and manageable sections.

Hi Karl,

Having multiple textures on a part should not be a problem, but each polygon can only have one texture assigned to it. So if the total length of your fuselage is one polygon, you will have to split it into different sections first.
