• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Need to run HUGE Virtual Airspace Server

Hello all, sorry if i'm posting to the wrong location, anyway, I am working on a virtual community in which people can serve as Pilots or ATC on a server. My website at (LAVirtualSkies.x10.mx(I just uploaded the server, so my host may take a while to process all the files, I know the homepage works, but I'm not sure about any other links or tabs.)) is currently built, and I know exactly how my server should be run and function, i've got everything envisioned. My only problem is, I don't have a powerful enough computer to run FSX 24/7, but I do have a fairly decent working laptop. My question is, would anyone be interested in partnering up for a project in which you would create a server application? Through my community you will have a strong idea of what your server is capable of and what it is not, also, you will be getting lots of suggestions in how we can bring users together, now that GameSpy servers are gone. I've got huge plans for my summer project, and rather than rebuilding my own program from scratch, I would like to invite anyone who already has a running server application or anyone who would like the experience of starting from scratch. What do you say? I look forward to your replies! If you have any questions please ask, but if they get too specific, we'll have to use skype or e-mail, as I don't want to release too much info to the public just yet. This is not the only application I wish to have developed, there is a list of other things I'm designing which will bring members outside of FSX and FS9.

Thanks!

THere are a few out there already that do this. Vatsim, IVAO, Boston VATC, etc.

Whats the benefit of yours if you dont mind my asking?

you do not need to run FSX. I have a server running 24/7. It runs on an old 1Ghz machine running XP, with 256mb ram. It runs FSINN which is a server which allows FSx and FS9 connections

I forgot about FSInn. It and Squawkbox both connect to FS and run multiplayer servers. Not 100% sure how to set it up, but they are able to do it.

Again, my personal statement, what would your ATC server offer over Vatsim or IVAO?
Both have training, procedures, and workflows already in place and it hosts hundreds of users at any one time. How will yours be better/different?
