Night texture in Sbuilder ground texture?

I have created ground texture using sbuilder and google satellite for FSX. But how do I make and assign night maps or LM file?

Not sure if you still need this or not but I just found out how to do this so I will share. I am using GIMP. When I used SBX to create my background .bmp I also created a new layer (the _B.tif file) and colored that black for the parts I wanted transparent and white for the ones I wanted to show through. Any variation from white to black will give you varying degrees of transparency. Anyway I created another layer and colored the parts that I wanted to be transparent, black, and colored the parts that I wanted to show up as a night texture black but then set the opacity to 90%. You will have to play with this number to get the amount of darkness to the map that you want. The lower the number the brighter it will be. I then exported the new layer as XXX_LM.tif (just like I did with the _B.tif and _W.tif) to create the night texture. Ran SBX and compiled it just like I did before I added the night map. Renamed that photo.bgl file to something more descriptive and stuck it in my scenery folder and ran P3D. When I changed the time of day to night the dark texture was there and no more glowing airport.

Create your LM and place at same location as base image. Remember to add _LM to the nomenclature and save as a .bmp. Click on the map outer edge in SB...right click, select seasons tab...at the bottom there is a selection for Light Map...simply highlight the image name (should be same as base image, and add _LM, and re-compile.

Hello guys!

I am having a problem by finding season tab. When I open SBX, create a new project and then add a map from background, I create the _B.tif and the _W.tif. after that I make the night map texture (_LM.bmp). Next you click in SBX outside of the map, right click, seasons????? In my SBX there only what you see in the picture. What do I do wrong??

Thank you

Here are the pictures;)

Norvin, Its there you just have to find it. By that I mean the area that you have to right click on is very small but it is there. It is the border of the image. Its very small and hard to click correctly to get the menu to appear but it is there.

Thank you so much for your answer!!!

Could you tell me where it is, to make it easier to find????

Norvin.

Ok... There is a new problem....

When i have selected the night Map (_B.tif, _W.tif and _LM.bmp are created), I hit BGL Compile. When I hit the final compile button, the RESAMPLE.exe won't open.

What is the problem there???

Thankyou,

Norvin.

Norvin,

I have had that happen as well. When it happens to me is when I use GIMP to edit the .bmp image and then I export it (File > Export As). Under the Export Image as BMP box that appears I have to check Do not write color space information under Compatibility Options. If I don't do that when I try to BGL compile, it just flashes up a cmd window and then it disappears and doesn't do anything.

I assume that under Edit > FSX settings you have the paths set correctly? Mine are set to C:\Program Files (x86)\SBuilderX313\Tools for each of the bottom three paths.

I am using Gimp too.... I tried to export a new night map with "Do not write color space information" enabled. Then I hit Compile again, but there happend the same.

My paths are fine I think, you can check in the Scrennshot.

thank you,

Norvin.

Did you edit the .bmp image at all? Try removing all the the images except the .bmp image and see if it compiles. If it doesn't I would download a new image and without doing anything like editing it or adding a mask to it, see if it compiles.

I already tried this out;). I compiled it without the night map, no problem.... That is working totally fine.

I also tried to edit the night map with paint.net, but there is a export ERROR.

Not sure then. I have only made one night map and I used GIMP to edit the original .bmp. I just tinkered with the contrast and brightness until I got it sufficiently dark and then I exported it as a .bmp making sure to check that checkbox mentioned above.
