• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.

Night Vision? Possible?

I've been recently opened to the Wonderful View of Night Vision in X-plane. SO I did a search for FSX and found a Video of a application for Night Vision for fs2004 non-downloadable. Now my idea was to create a semi transparent "panel" of green which does not work too well! So I just made Goggles.

Then I got the idea of making a .fx file to simulate "light" with a green overlay for a panel so it will look like your wearing night vision but really your aircraft is emitting a enormous amount of Light.

Then I started playing with the SDK and .fx tool and got lost.

Basically I Want to open Discussion on the possibility of creating Night vision.

I am looking into how they do it in xplane 9 in hopes to "mimic" the concept, but I feel Flightsim will fail!

Hi,

I think the most common way to do this into games currently is by using a shader for it. But I do not think the FSX engine is so open that you can add your own to it.

I was driving down the road the other day and got the idea of a application that affects your screen Directly and runs in the back round. So that everything that is White or "bright" would "glow" thus with a green filter on that, no matter What game you play you could have Night vision. I am researching today to see if anyone has created a GFX effects type program kinda like a Voice Morphing device for your sound card.
