• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

No autogen objects

Hi all,

and again i am having problems. Does anyone know, how to "activate" the autogen buildings? I bought the Santorini Scenery and also in general I have almost no Autogen objects. The settings in FSX are set to Very Dense. I have full detail and so on. I am assuming it is something in the scenery.cfg where the entry for the autogen objects is missing. Can someone tell me where I have to look at and what has to be in the scenery.cfg?

Many thanks in advance.

Cheers,

Hi Marcus,

though I think this is more an object of the Aerosoft Support Forum, try this first:
- de-activate any Add-on,
- go to any airport you like,
- set autogen density to more then spare (very dense recomd.),
- look if you have autogen in the surrounding of that airport.

If not, the installation of Santorini X could have altered your default.xml which you find in <FSX>\Autogen\. Look at the date/time. The default should be from 26.07.2006.

If you have autogen surrounding default airports (but not on Santorini) then maybe the installation has not altered default.xml.

I don't have Santorini X but I think all the buildings on that island will be special autogen referenced in an altered default.xml on a photorealistic underground. Only few buildings on and around the airport and some landmarks will be separate 3D models.

Regards
Hans

P.S.: and no, I mean this has nothing to do with a missing entry in scenery.cfg

Hi,

Are you sure there should be autogen? Some ways to design scenery cause autogen exclusion.

Hi Arno,

of course photo tiles exclude (default) autogen but as long as I understand the technique of 'populating' photo-realistic underground with a lot of objects like in AS VFR Germany they 'extend' the default.xml with new object libraries and create agn files to fill the photo tiles. Isn't that autogen?

In VFR Germany there seems no compiled xml file with <Scenery Object .../> placement. If Santorini X is made the same way, I guess the problem could lie in a wrong default.xml. It's only a guess.

Maybe the expert and admin for aerosoft support which reads here can clear this up.

Hans

Hi Arno,

Yes I am sure coz I don't have autogen objects at all!!! And thats what I got irritated about. So I assumed there is something wrong with the autogen default.xml. I can find out on Monday when I am back in Munich.

Hi all,

and again the community was able to solve my problem. As it seems you have to install the add-ons with administrator rights. In my case, something deleted my default.xml. Now I have it back and the autogen is working again. GREAT!!!

thanks to all,
