Hi,
I just moved to Win7 64 Bit. I installed SBuilder not on the C:\ drive in order not to get in Win7 security issues. The install worked fine. I can open SBuilder and I can open old senery files built on XP sytem also.
Here the problem: When I want to get a new MAP eg. Google or Yahoo the pull down menu shows always the preference Yahoo even if I have changed the prefernce selection to Google or Virtual Earth Satellite.
Again, only Yahoo is shown. If I click to get a MAP from YahooI, I get the error message "Cannot get a Yahoo Image".
Do I need a tool like Manifold or any other? A new YahooServer.dll ? Why does SBuilder not accept even a different map provider on his pull down menu ?
Any Ideas ?

Thanks in advance
Dietmar

Hi Dietmar.

I never use that function, so I never noticed it is broken. That function only allows a Yahoo map. If you want background tiles, they are selected under the menu Edit|Preferences. Those tiles are then displayed under the menu View|Show Background. Then a map can be added by the menu File|Add Map|From background...

Hi Dick,
thanks for your reply. I guess we have a misundrestanding. I did a lot of my sceneries under XP with this excellent SBuilder tool and I never have seen this problem. I will try to explain it differently. If I select Edit/Preferences and select for example Google I expect to see when I do File/Add Map/From background the selected provider Google and not Yahoo, regardless if Google does not give me a map I like. I always get Yahoo and never that what I have selected.
And if I click on Yahoo, even I have selected Google, I get the error MSG "Cannot get a Yahoo Image". Also If I have selected Yahoo, and want to see a map I get the error MSG too.
SBuilder 1) ignores the selction Google or one of the the others and 2) does not provide me a map at all. Not with Google nor Yahoo. Instead I get the error MSG. It must have to do with Win7 because on XP I have never seen this kind of problem.
Best

Hi Dick,

The problem is solved. I had a file misplacement in my setup. I had to many re-installs of the tool and mixed up old XP and new Win7 files. Again Thanks for your reply.

Hello Dietmar,

Why do you say that you did not install SBuilderX in C: ? I am getting problems with the install on Win7. Thanks, Luis

The Win7 UAC (user access control) is active on the standard folders, e.g. c.\programs(x86) and will prevent the running application from changing files etc in that folder structure. Changes are supposed to be made in the user profile structures. Older applications don't do that.
A standard workaround is to install older or problematic applications in a folder outside the standard structures, e.g. c:\programs-non-uac\ or better on a seperate drive. I do the latter, also with FSX / Prepar3D and never had any issues with SBuilderX or the simulations.
It is also possible to turn off the UAC, but I wouldn't suggest that as long as there is an easy workaround.

Cheers,
Mark
