• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.

Hi guys,

i am helpless. After i have exported my model to MDL via gmax, there are no textures or other generated texture files. My FSX shows a black model. What to do with my model textures finally?
I am following these steps:

1. Texture creation with Photoshop
2. Save it as *.psd
3. Using that *.psd as material in gmax
4. Texturing my model, make GUID
5. Exporting the model with standart settings
6. ....and next? Whats going on with my textures?

The export runs error free with a generated MDL File - but there are no other results from my texture work. I don´t know what do to next. Thank for help & sorry for my english :-)

Hi,

You need to convert your textures to DDS files and add mipmaps. You can do this with the ImageTool utility that comes with the SDK.

Just load your PSD files into ImageTool, select the format you want (DXT1 or DXT5 if you have different levels of transparancy) and add mipmaps. After that save as a DDS file in the texture folder that belongs to the scenery folder where your BGL file is.
