Opening user airport bgl

Hello

I need to adapt older AF2 bgl files to FSX (they still work in FSX).
Such files can't be opend in FSXP; so I tried to use first ADE 52, with "Transfer to FSX" item, but new saved files still can't be opened in FSXP; message: "There are no airports in this XML file".

Is the only solution: first to use SDE to decompile and create an xml file, then opening it in FSXP?

Curiously, I noticed that if I open an AF2 file in AFX, just change "FS2004 airport" to "FSX airport", and save, this new bgl file is correctly opened in FSXP.

Thanks for help.

How old are these af2 files. Are they FS2002 type AFCAD files?

Many FS9 af2 bgl's do not have a airport associated with them and FSXP or ADE does not open them.

What some designers do is place the excludes, taxiway signs, buildings, new approach data and scenery GUIDS into these blank af2 bgls making them appear as if they were airports. These type af2 bgl's do not have a airport header so they are not read by airport design utilities.
