• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

original scenery

Hi all,
Trying my first project with FSX planner, I'm running into the following:
I've used one large exclude rectangle to exclude all the original taxiway signs and a few rectangles to exclude everything since I'm placing some new taxiways.

The original scenery however, stays in place. I've checked the 'exclude all' option in my exclude rectangles, but no luck.
If, however, I check the 'exclude all' option in the large rectangle then all scenery in this rectangle disappears.

Any ideas on how to get around this? Using the large rectangle with 'exclude' all is not an option since it deletes practically the whole airport.

Thanks!
Michel

I take it that you are talking about the scenery objects and generic buildings at the airport? Each exclusion rectangle must cover the reference point (usually the middle of the object that you want to exclude) If the large exclude removes stuff but the smaller ones don't then I would first make sure that they do cover the objects you want to remove.

Hi,
thanks for the quick reply.
The smaller rectangles do cover the middle of the objects I want removed.
There are some trees in the middle of my new taxiways, and I've drawn some rather spacious rectangles over the taxiways and the surrounding grass.
So, this doesn't seem to be the problem.

I've attached a printscreen from FSX planner

Trees you cannot remove with an exclusion rectangle. for that you need a tool that will create terrain exclusion polygons. There are several that will do this including SBuilderX and FSX KML. I understand that the next version of FSX Planner may support these but the current one does not.

Are you saying that you have buildings and other objects that you want to exclude and which are still there after you set the excludes to excludeAll? But it works when you use excludeAll in your large exclusion rectangle?

No, I solved that by making a greater rectangle... The trees were covered completely by the rectangles, but it seemed the building wasn't.
Ill try one of the other tools to exclude the trees and let you know. Thanks so far!

Michel
