• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

orphan parking

Hello,

so, when I click on fault finder, I keep getting the message that my new parking spots are not connected to the taxiway. Is there a step I am missing?

Thanks,

colin

You must connect the parking spot to the taxipath. Add an apron link between the parking spot and the taxipath.

Horst

Horst is correct. You need to create a link from the parking spot to the taxi network. Note that you should make sure that you are connecting to a taxi, apron or runway type of link. The fault finder will also give you this warning if you are only linked to a vehicle path since aircraft won't use vehicle paths to get to the runway.

If parking is not connected through the taxi network to the runway then AI aircraft won't be directed there and also any AI aircraft generated at those spots won't be able to get to the runway to take off.

Colin
also make sure your parking spot is not highlighted when connecting from this spot to the apron/taxiway otherwise it will just put a blue node on top of the parking spot and the fault finder will show as not connected

Ray

Thanks Ray. I just got rid of the blue dot and all seems to work now.

Is there any way I can see an outline of the buildings that are present? I made some more parking for cargo, but then when into FSX to find the planes sticking out of buildings.

The best way is to run FSX in windowed mode and start at your airport. Run ADE (also windowed), open your airport then click on "Connect". You will see the position of your aircraft in ADE. Right click on your parking spot and select "Move aircraft to here", switch to FSX and you will see where your aircraft is.

Not at the moment but we are looking at this for future versions. George offers the best way to handle things right now.

You could also take a overhead screenshot while in FSX, and then add it as a background image in ADE.
