• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

I made this with MAPS2BGL and i want to know how to put like a layer over the lake using the default water textures. Can anyone please help me with this. I've tried using GE making a polygon, then open it with KML FSX , but its not working.

Anyone know how to do this?? Thanks

Do you want the default water to show or do you want the default water effect to show? Two different things and each handled in the same manner. If you want the default water to show, make a blendmask and remove the water from the photo. If you want the default water effect, make a watermask and use that during compile.

To exclude any portion of the imagery you need to make a blendmask, which is a separate 8-bit, grayscale TIFF file. Black (pure black 0,0,0) get's left out, pure white (255,255,255) is shown. You will probably want to work on feathering the black/white line with some mid-level grays, as you will get some artifacting with just a hard line from black to white.

Details of blendmasks and watermasks can be found in the SDKs.

Where does the TIFF file go? And where to get the images. I use MAPS2BGL and there is a file called "TilesCache' but there jpg. format.

I dont quite understand how to do this. I Make a KML file using Google earth, then open it in MAPS2BGL, download the tiles. But how would you 'create a blendmask' ? Im confused. I understand the part of using 100% black, but where the images are for the BGL or something, it what i dont understand...
