• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Placing Scenery Objects?

Hi all. I'm trying to place 3 of the revolving green targets as scenery for use simply as reference points in my mission. I need one at 1,500ft, one at 1,000ft, and one at 500ft; all located over the water. They show up as they are supposed to in the Object Placement Tool, however once I start the mission they are all on the surface of the water as if they have fallen from their assigned spots.

Anyone know what I'm missing? Thanks.

Hi,

I don't know why the targets would show up at ground level. I was thinking that perhaps the targets were referenced to sea level rather than ground level but as they showed up properly in the OPT that doesn't seem plausible.
I use the creation tutorial for a test bed so I just added the question mark game target, assigned 1000ft. as the altitude and saved the mission. The target showed up at approx. 1500ft., as the ground level was about 500ft.
For reference here's the code:

<SceneryObjects.LibraryObject InstanceId="{428A4634-D5F8-496F-B0AF-139B7D9F3A07}">
<Descr>GEN_game_target_Question_ACTIVE</Descr>

<WorldPosition>N47° 29' 34.65",W122° 19' 9.40",+001000.00</WorldPosition>
<Orientation>0.000,0.000,0.000</Orientation>
<AltitudeIsAGL>True</AltitudeIsAGL>
<Scale>1.000</Scale>
</SceneryObjects.LibraryObject>
