• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Plane / AI information - Update HELP!

The information over at the owls nest for AI parking info is the best there is. But, I have noticed, it is lacking MANY planes and is dated. Also, if you pay attention, the data at the top, where he says 'recommended GA Parking Spot Sizes'.. The data there doesn't jive with the Parking spot types in many cases. Some of the jets should be in Large according to that yellow section, but in the spreadsheet, it is listed as medium. There are others as well.

Anyways, I am going to do a complete remake of this amazing resource. I would love to have one or two people help me out. Gathering real world data, researching FS aircraft data, etc..

I am going to put it all in a database online so that people can then update it with new aircraft and information.

If anyone is interested in giving me a hand with this, let me know please.. You can message me on any of the chat apps or via pvt mail... We can then discuss what needs to be done. I would like to have this done by 01 September.

Greg,

Correct me if I am wrong but I have always thought that in FSX, the parking size should be at least half the wing span as found in the aircraft.cfg.
With ADE comes this seperate program called aircraft editor which shows the wing span of the aircraft and the recommended size of the parking spot it needs.
If that is right and I am not forgetting something crucial, why go through all this trouble if it is that easy already?
In the unlikely event I am, for once, not forgetting anything crucial, you can massage me on any apps but not via pvt mail :) during which we can indeed discuss what needs to be done.

Roby,

Checking some things out..never used THAT program before.. as far as parking sizes, yes, they should be about 1/2 the wingspan size, but there again, from all the research I have done, 99% of it HERE, many wingspans should be changed in the aircraft file. This is all info I want to include in the updated information.

But, the point of that database, if you have ever looked at it, is to give you a quick look at the type of aircraft, it's info, and what parking spot it should use.

I look at it constantly and if designing, always have it open in the background.

That's why I will be doing the database no matter what I find in the program... but, man how nice it would be if ADE did all this automatically. Put the database INSIDE ADE, then, when you select a parking spot, you can choose the type of aircraft you plan on parking there (aircraft would be in groups of course...) and it would select the correct parking spot type and size for you. Sometimes, you want a small parking spot to be 8m and sometimes you want a small spot of ONLY 7m so that only a few AC will park there.

While that would be great, I at least want to build the database for this info so it can be viewed whether or not it ever ends up as part of ADE.

Hope that makes sense.... as to why I want to update that information.
