• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Push back, for forward also?

Hey all,

A quick question. I am going to guesstimate that we can wire a switch (Kvar) that can activate/deactivate push back. Is it possible to cause the airplane to push 'forward' also? For instance, can I command the plane to roll forward at say 5 or 10 knots? I know this can be done with some of the cool VTOL airfiles from recent past, such as the Bell, but it uses the FSUIPC system to forward/reverse. Can it be done in the gauge codes?

The Ground Handling gauges by Rob Barendregt include a Taxi Speed Control which allows you to set the speed you want to taxi. This gauge doesn't use FSUIPC. If you want to view the XML code in the CAB file just download the gauge from FlightSim.Com, the file is named rcbgh-50.zip.

What I meant by a tug is that just below the TOGGLE_PUSHBACK entry in Event ID's in the SDK are TUG_HEADING, TUG_SPEED and TUG DISABLE.

Not messed with this, but a tug is what does the pushback in real life and I presume (dangerous) that it also does it in FS. Perhaps if you set the TUG_HEADING and TUG_SPEED before TOGGLE_PUSHBACK you could be pushed/pulled forwards and disable the tug after a suitable delay.

Pushback occurs usually before engines are started, you are pushed into a place where starting engines is not going to blow over luggage carts etc. Since the engines are not started, you are not in a taxi situation.

This could work in normal sim flight, but I do not think it would work for AI. Nothing looks more stupid than a Spitfire being pushed back before it starts as AI!

... and you could have a gauge using A:PUSHBACK ANGLE to show which way you were being pushed back (or forward in this case).
