• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Repair/reinstall ADE for MSFS

I have edited an airport, pressed Build Project and when built selected Yes to "Copy to Community Folder", but the edited project is not copied to the community folder. It has always worked OK until my current project.

Tried to find a workaround but cannot.

Is there a facility to repair ADE or can it be uninstalled and reinstalled without losing my airport files?

Also, if ADE is to be reinstalled how can it be safely done please?

I suggest the circumstances strongly sound more like a failed build operation, then like an instance of partial functionality of ADE. If you are able to confirm there were no Console errors for this edit and you are set on reinstalling ADE, doing so will not delete folders and files you've created, it will only overwrite the installed application and it's associated files. Doesn't that currently involve reinstalling the base installation, plus two patches?

Hello:

If / when you re-install ADE:

I would play it safe and keep a back up in a separate folder location remote from any part of the ADE folder chain.

With each of your projects loaded one at a time in ADE:

ADE Menu > Project > Back Up

By default, ADE outputs the ADE project backup folder chain ZIP to the original project folder chain path ex:

[ADE_2020_Alpha_21 install path]\F20\[project name]

Copy that ZIP file containing ADE's project backup folder chain into a folder located outside the ADE folder chain.

Thanks to all those who have offered clues on how to deal with ADE repair, looks like I just need to reinstall it after backing up my projects.

Can anyone provide me with a link to reinstall ADE?

Did Google stop working too?

Hi again:

IMHO, no need to 'Google' on this; when in doubt, at FSDev check the pertinent forum list of "sticky" topics etc.: :pushpin:

Then review these (2) topics for links and instructions. ;)
