• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

GULFSTREAM! One of the big ones... like the G550 or something, with a nice detailed virtual cockpit :D There are like NO detailed gulfstreams for FSX.

Based upon comments made here, there and everywhere, it would probably be less than 48 hours after release before the developer got a cease and desist letter from Gulfstream...

It's not that anyone doesn't want to make one, they just know not to try.

The loop hole in the legalities is this.

1. Name it something different (StreamGulf, or just Custom Jet)

2. Tag the line, "The representation of the aircraft contained within these files is a work of fiction and does not, and was not, intended to be in a likeness of any known, or produced, real world aircraft on the market. Any Likeness to any said aircraft or object found in the world is purely coincidence and is not intended to be"

3. Leave it to 3rd party painters to paint your custom jet to look like a Gulfstream.

If it works for Hollywood it should work for you too.

What about freeware developers? There are plenty of top quality freeware aircraft out there, but none of them happen to be gulfstreams :D

If I ever become a mega billionaire or something, i'm going to write a personal letter to Gulfstream telling them why I chose a Global Express over their product: they wouldn't let FS developers make a model of it!

I don't take well to stuckupness. :p

When you become a mega billionaire, just buy the damn company, fire whoever thought to put a stop to FS models, and sponsor a group (let me know, I can suggest a very good group) to create the definitive FS Gulfstream models!

just a thought

i have decided to become an artist...a 3d artist..i specialise in photo realism..
all my art works are free...if someone wishes to use my art, in whatever way they wish, possibly in flight sim. thats theyre choice...as an artist i am not constrained by copyright or logo protection..i can depict the world and all its objects with complete versimilitude...you cant sue an artist for depicting any object including corporate logos...if todays artist chooses to use a computer,
and build 3d artworks, then let the philistines sue...but i should warn them, i have one major advantage,,,no money..cheers jim the aircraft artist..

Is that written down somewhere?

:edit: No, seriously. Does it make any sense that someone should legally prohibit the depiction or for that matter, any crafted product that does not serve the same purpose as the protected one just because it was inspired by it? Are there humans on this planet to vote such a law? I understand "Copyright" means COPY, or should I say CLONE. How could an FS aircraft possibly be a physical clone serving the same purpose as the protected original? Are you guys serious?

you, sir, shall be the replacement at Gulfstream for the guy when I fire him, after the buyout :p

Just a thought:

What is the difference in flying a Lear45 with the name "GulfStream" in the .cfg and the same flight dynamics?

I know...I know...I would be fine with flying the C172 G1000 with Remos flight dynamics;) It's just the eyecandy that counts:rolleyes:

If I may...

Reading this post I couldn't help but have a little twitch start...

I personally would deem any kind of modeling of real-world objects as free advertisement for any corporation. I mean, how many of us has plopped things like a Coke or Pepsi machine at an airport? Hertz or Avis signs? Exxon, AVGas, Mobil tanks or vehicles? If I wanted to create an "as detailed as FS would allow" model of anything... I think any corporation should see it as flattery. After all, we are not stealing their designs... their customers... their technologies... We're just emulating them, and VERY limited at that. I don't want to have an entire world with oddities like... Burger Ken, or McThompson's, or Ken Kola, or the KenStream 4000...

OK... I'm getting silly...

Hendrick Motorsports and S&D Coffee both absolutely did not want their logo featured in the scenery for Concord Regional Airport. It was quite odd... but all other companies have been very receptive.

So, make it a Starbucks and then send S&D a screenshot!

For the other, make up your own logo and name it "Headpricks Motorsports..."

I actually made it say "TEA". I don't even really like coffee :P

Just because I love ruining Jon's fun...I took a few screenies from my beta version. :D

I love both suggestions :D

The sad thing is that such irony is mostly wasted on such people because they seem unable to grab the meaning.
