• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

I was wondering if anyone had any advise on whats the best way to turn this Arkansas River so it runs how it should?

The red shows where I *should* go, but as you can see the default river has a mind of its own. Also I am making the raised and lowered river levys and using sbuilder to make the flattens, I have the airport at 81 meters, and the river basin at 76m. Well this worked out ok, but I have a very long and graduated slope to meet the lower levy when in real life its quite a sharp slope.

So to combat this I created a 3rd flatten in sbuilder and put its edges RIGHT to the edge of the lower flatten, this gave me a more sharper slope but still a little to long. Also it is very rugged.

Am I going about this all wrong? If so I am wide open for suggestions.

Hi,

As you mention that you are working with SBuilder already, I would also define the new river shape in SBuilder, with a LWM polygon. On some places you might have to cover the old river with some VTP polygons to turn it back into land.

About the flattens, whats th ebest way to get a precise levy wall and also a trench for a road tunnel?
 
Ok I have got the river reworked, now I got the awesome shoreline lol.

Anyone know how to get rid of that?

I think you would have to use a VTP exclude for the shoreline.

About the flattens, the mesh system does not allow very sharp clifs in your mesh. So some sort of slope will always be there. It also depends on your FS settings how sharp this can be.

Yea I just abandoned the tunnel idea, and I have a good enough effect that looks like a ridge on the end of runway.
