• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Rotating Lighthouse Beam

First the essential info: FS9; FS2004 Gamepack; effects placed using XML file rather than Gmax attach technique. The effect is in corporated in the complete scenic bgl via the xml file. That is to say the xml file has: SceneryObject - Lighthouse....
SceneryObject - Effect...

The base effect file I'm using is Arno's nl2000_beam1.fx.

Now, this beam rotates through a full 360*. I want to constrain the rotation to 180*. I would like to have the beam visible only through the 180* to 360* sector.

So, the question is: Which parameter needs modification?

Most of the navigation lights I've seen that have defined arcs of visibility (in real life) have a shield made of some material to restrict the visibility. In the light houses I have made, I employed the same tactic.

Yes, I'd thought of that and tried it. However, while it works with a static flashing light, it doesn't appear to work with Arno's rotating beam.

Not sure why you call it my beam :), I never made a new effect myself yet. That is certianly not my area of expertise. From the name it seems this is an effect of the NL2000 scenery, which has been made by another team member.

Hi,

May we suppose we get the effect-file by installing NL200 ? Unless someone can provide use the single effect file ?

Greetz. José.

Here is the effect, in case somebody wants to tweak around with it.
