• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Runway lighting issue

Hi. I have a problem with runway lighting. I only can see the threshold and edge lights when i am at ground level. If the plane is only a few feet over the runway, it looks like all the lights dissapear under the runway ground polys. Any idea??

Thanks

Yes, that is quite normal. Ground poly cover up the default runway lights when the groundpoly are behind (view wise) the runway lights.

Thanks robystar for your quick answer. Then, there is no solution for this issue? Maybe changing the layers for ground polys or something like this?

You can make the default "underlying" runway a little bit wider than the ground poly and the lights will show up.

What we normally do is create SCASM lights with Airport 2000. Yes, old technology that still works even on P3Dv3. It allows you to create a transparent runway with lights that will display over ground poly.

Hi, I'm interested in create a trasparent runway with lights to be applied over the one of the scenery I'm working on but I did not understand exactly the way to do this. Could you explain me with a little more clarity? Thanks in advance

Hi Pinkjr. I´ve tried to make SCASM lights over ground polys, following the tutorial by jtanabodee, with airport 2000. Lights now appears over ground polys, but there is a problem with the aspect of these lights and with fps. Lights are not smoothed, and appears like white big balls. I attach a image with the result, and the scasm file i obtained with airport 2000. Thanks!!.
