• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

P3D v5 Runway under the ground

Hi, I downloaded a little scenario for FSX from 2019 (MMIO_ADEX_ARV.bgl) and made some changes to adapt it to P3Dv5. I realized that most of the airport was below ground level and so I created an area around the airport with the "Add polygon" tool. I subsequently issued this command.

After compiling, the result was the creation of two files (bgl and CVX, attached to this post) but nevertheless the situation has not changed.

Where did I go wrong?

Thank you.

You have not given us the most important file, i.e., the .ad4 file.

It appears the terrain is not level and, therefore, needs to be flattened to runway level. You''ll notice the taxiways and aprons are doing their own flattening. and, hence appear fully.

Thanks. And I can see you already have a flatten, so that wouldn't seem to be the issue.

I get exactly the same results as you in PV5, but have no idea why.

I've tried a number of different things,, like changing the flatten elevation and type and eliminating the elevation stub - all without success. Clearly, there's a terrain elevation problem. If you back away some distance, you can see the "shadow" of the runway being drawn slightly below then surface.

Then I had an idea. I tried your airport in PV4 and all was fine. But I have no idea whether the problem is in PV5 or ADE for PV5.

One thing that may be helpful is that, when I changed all the elevations to 1450m (which appears to be the elevation of the surrounding terrain, this is what I saw in PV5.

Maybe someone else has an idea.
