• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Saveable CFG-files?

Hi!

In FSX, what´s really the purpose of the option to save & load your settings in a separate CFG-file? It seems like a really clever idea to quickly be able to load/switch between 2 different settings, but the saved file does not hold as much info as the real FSX.cfg. All the tweaks that have popped up, do they work also in the user-created CFG? I think this is a great idea, as it also allows you to share CFG-files (once you find the optimal setting), but I just don´t really get how it works... (so this is not any critisism, just a question :D )

Um, nevermind, I just read a little blogpost from Owen... :o

Hi!

Ok, read the latter part of this post. No info on tweaking this part of the CFG-file, but I´ll do some tests with the autogen tonight and will see if the values are read correctly in the user-cfg as it is in the fsx.cfg. Will report back.

Hi!

I´m a little lost at the moment... editing a user.cfg-file does not seem to override the settings in the fsx.cfg-file (not tried the Autogen-tweak in only user.cfg yet, only variations), and loading a vastly different user.cfg while in flight does not seem to alter the settings. Changing config before loading a flight works ok, though.
More to follow.

But opening the load... menu and then try to edit a cfg (right-click and edit) and then select it seems to be a fail-save way to crash FSX. :D
