• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

SBuilder Shorelines for FS9

After a long day trying, I finaly managed to make a lake and some new shorelines of an Island.
Shorelies show up as intended but how do I get rid of the water behind the shorelines and how to get rid of the old shorelines where they peeking out?
I tried the area fill but it didn't work.

I tried to find help over the search but all instructions are for FSX. I need it for FS9.

And may I make a suggestion for this excelent forum? How about seperating the design forums and the wiki into an FS9 and an FSX part.

It's been a while, but you need to make a polygon, right-click on the poly's edge, and change the type to Excl.

That brings up the ability to Add a Layer... and you probably need to add layer 8. Shorelines, roads, etc... are VTP, and require exclusions to change.

Water and land are LWM polys. They do not require exclusion. Changing the water to land requires another poly. and change it's properties to LWM, and type Land Mask. Water Mask is for water.

You can change a larger poly to Land, and then make a smaller poly inside/overlapping to make water within it.

Thanks a lot, that worked for the problem shown in the picture.

However, the next prob comes up:

As seen in the pix here, a tile of land is missing. I put for sure a landclass there and also the poly from the island itself is covering that area. Where does the water come from?

2.) When replacing the shorelines of an island, the part of drawing the line is easy, then (in Sbuilder)you can make a poly from the shoreline, which gives you a LWM poly that is supposed to cover the gaps of water that show up behind the new shoreline. However, this poly covers the whole island and it makes it flat in the same time. How to do this the proper way?
Can I cut a hole in the island poly to let the mountains come out again or do I have to draw a new poly from scratch, that covers only a small stripe along the shoreline?

Thanks for your help.

Hi calypso.

That's exactly what missing landclass looks like. And most often it is missing near the ocean areas... simply not extended far enough into the water.

You can use SBuilder to add landclass, but don't be stingy as FS9 needs a minumum of 4 tiles square to work... sometimes more than 4.
