• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

SbuilderX crashing

Hi all!
I've done some tests in SbuilderX 3.13 by creating polygons (flatten and exclude autogen). When I try to bgl compile, SBuilderX crashes to desktop. Is there something wrong with my SBuilderX or am I just too much of a newbie to understand what I'm doing wrong? :)

Hi Jakob:

What version of Windows are you using... 32-bit or 64-bit ?

If you are using a 64-bit version of Windows, you may wish to try using rhumbaflappy's complete, pre-packaged installation of SBuilderX version 3.14: :idea:

...or the "official" base installer from the authors release announcement thread:

PS
: While SBuilderX can indeed make that type of CVX vector terrain-type polygon used at airports, some of the more specialized "airport" utility programs such as the Airport Design Editor (aka "ADE") or Airport Facilitator X (aka "AFX") may provide not only that same CVX vector polygon creation capability, but many other scenery objects used at airports that SBuilderX does not currently support.

Hope this helps ! :)

When you ran the "SBuilderX.exe" executable file, did you right-click and choose "Run as administrator" ? :scratchch

Have you tried installing to a folder on your Windows "Desktop", then running the "SBuilderX.exe" executable file by right-clicking and choosing "Run as administrator" ? :scratchch

Also, do you actually have FSX "properly" installed on the same computer to which you are installing SBuilderX ?

I am running it as admin, but I do not have FSX installed on my computer, only P3D. I have redirected the paths in SbuilderX to the p3d SDK.

The reason I asked this is, it would help identify whether you may have Windows User Account-specific File / Folder Permissions "Security" issues and/or Windows Group Policy Editor-imposed permissions issues above and beyond that which is otherwise minimally-controllable via the UAC settings in Control Panel, and via the:

SBuilderX.exe "Run as Administrator" elevated permissions attribute in:

* Windows Explorer > right-click menu options

...or:

* 'shortcut link' right-click menu > Properties > Security and/or Compatibility options

If you are still not able to run SBuilderX from a folder on the current account user Desktop, multiple other possible causes for the SBuilderX 'CTD at startup' may apply.

Hi there, sorry to highjack this thread. But I seem to have the same problem. Only P3Dv335 installed and no FSX.
UAC disabled and running SBuilderX.exe as admin.
After opening for the first time I'm getting the following error:

FSX could not be found in this computer

After clicking OK a dialog screen appears where you need to enter the path to FSX.
When I point the path to the P3D folder (with a fake fsx.exe) the text in the path becomes red and seems excepted. The program seems to start after clicking OK. See below.

After closing and starting sbuilderX again the same error quoted above reappears.
