• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX SbuilderX jagged edges using flatten

Just northend of KSEA The ground and 4 lane hiway should be about 100 ft lower that the airport.(about) I did a flatten in SbuilderX using meters, of course. East\West seems to mesh nicely because the default land rises father out. I drew my poly to come close to those areas. North\south, however, has to be a bit narrow. Both sides drop like a rock and are extremely jagged!!! I've seen this often and am wondering how I can keep this from happening.

I do realize there is an option - set all points to same altitude or alt and slope for each point and heading!!!!!! Heading? i.e. which way the slope is to go? Slope is understandable.... pitch - how steep the incline. I can't seem to control which point I am modifying. Help Please. Bob

Hi Bob:

Generally speaking, all sloped flattens are dependent upon terrain mesh resolution and FS terrain mesh slider settings for the 'precision' with which they can be displayed when rendered at run time in a flight session.

Search FS Developer using the words "sloped" "flatten" (without quotes) as a search query.

You'll then find some good info on the sloped flatten creation process, info on factors affecting how they will display, as well as the importance of specifying to any end users what terrain mesh settings and/or add-on mesh are intended to be used with an add-on airport you have built. ;)

If there are other issues apparently unrelated to terrain mesh and/or FS terrain mesh slider settings used, it might be a good idea to post a screenie of the problem area here, so the SBuilder gurus can offer more specific help. :twocents:

Hope this helps ! :)

Gary- Thanx. Yes - the sliders do help tremendously. I'll try to grab a screenshot on this. Bob
