• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

SDK installation

Paul,I know you wrote this some time back but I thought you might like to know.
You say in the installation section that SP2 is on the Acceleration pack, this is not true now, there is only the 1A.
In fact I can't find a SDK SP2 at all.

I am sm struggling to get the tools to appear. I have installed the Deluxe & Acceleration followed by the SDK from Disk 1,then the SP1A from the Acceleration disk, changed the disabled in the three files to 'False' but I only got 'tools' to appear once. The next time I started FSX it did not show.

Hope you won't mind my pointing this out.

SDK's

Hi Paul,thanks for the reply.
Well I did wonder about the SDK on disk 1,it is just refered to as SDK/setup.exe, no version number.
Anyway thats what I have installed at the moment but still no tools.

Hello Paul!

I would like to ask you for two clarifications.

(1) This one is probabely due to a language difference.
In the Wiki under "Configuration" you wrote
{Quote} "If you had ...... as a quick indicator that the SDK is correctly installed, the OPT should now be available from the FSX Tools menu." {EndofQuote}

Neither "OPT" nor "FSX Tools" do appear on my German language menu.
Yet, what my menu contains, might still be all right.

Could you be so kind as to verify/confirm?

(2)
Again in the Wiki, under "FSX in-game Tools menu" you wrote {Quote} "All other tools are run/started from outside the sim GUI.
Look in the root of where you'd installed the SDK, or
Start -> All Programs -> Microsoft Games -> Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK -> Flight Simulator X SDK"{EndofQuote}

When klicking the last heading I get the "Flight Simulator X SDK Overview" (Version SDK-SP2).
But no "all other tools".

Please could you clarify?

With many thanks

yours truely

Hi Folks

Helli -
What George said. :D

Your points raised -
1) Yes you are correct, it's a language difference.

2) You've been looking at the SDK Help/Documentation file.

You'd misquoted slightly, :D
by default, it should be -
located by default in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK

In there you should find 4 sub-folders -
- Core Utilities Kit
- Environment Kit
- Mission Creation Kit
- SimObject Creation Kit

Those 'other' non-in-game tools
are in those folders, (and sub-folders).

You'll need to read the relevant sections of the Flight Simulator X SDK
all of which are accessible from that Overview page.
