• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi and great to have the forum back!

I was just posting my first question here today, but found out that I was logged of when I had finished writing! I´m not that fast, you know...

Could it be that the session log-out time is a tad too short? ;) Kind of frustrating ´cause you have to start all over again...

Hi Hans,

I think you are not logged out automatically. It always remembers me, even when I come back a day later :). I think there is a checkbox called Remember me or next to to the place where you log in, had you selected that?

Let me know if it happens again, maybe there is some hidden option somewhere deep in the admin panel :D.

If this is like the phpBB board I run, there is a session timeout. On my board it is set quite high, 86400 seconds (24 hours). This prevents visitors who are either interrupted while composing or researching a post while creating it from getting dumped as often happens on the more public generic boards.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn the default vBulletin session time-out settings are in the half-hour range which is too short for mature and thoughtfully composed posts.

If anything like phpBB2, the setting is in your Admin/Configuration area.

Hi!

Yes, it happened again. It appears that if you don´t tick "remember me", then the logout-time is quite short. "Then why don´t you tick that box?" Well, I´m on a public computer, and for obvious reasons don´t want to share my cookies with the co-workers! :D

OK, I will have to check this.

Yesterday I reduced the time that you are remembered as active. This way the Who's online is more accurate and also posts are marked as read after this time. I have set the time to 3 minutes now, it was 15. But there was no mention of that is also logs out users.

Another idea, I think even if you use the remmeber me function, once you click on logout the cookie will be removed anyway. So I think it is save then to use on a public PC as well, but I might need to check that :D.

OK, I had a look in the manual of the forum and the logout time is indeed the same time as when you are visible in who's online (and after this your read posts are also saved in the database).

Therefore I have increased the logout time again till 15 minutes, because otherwise it is too short. Let me know if a longer time is needed for big messages or so.
