• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSXA Setting taxi link defaults

I have a Pro Key and have read and understood the manual pertaining to the new procedure for setting taxi link defaults.

Or at least I think so.

I select the taxi link tool.

I draw a random taxi link, not connected to anything.

Switching to Select tool I select that link, then right click on the link and "Default Options".

I make my changes, "Set to Selected", OK the warning and... my changes are not accepted.

It appears I have to first change the properties to that specific link before I can change my Default Settings.

Is this how it was intended? If so, the documentation skips that step.

cheers,
Lane

PS. Jon, thanks for all you do

Thanks :) Do you mean that the link you drew does not take the default? If so I would expect that since the new defaults would apply to any future links of that type. Or have I not understood

In this first picture I have drawn a new, unconnected link and am attempting to change the default settings.

Here I have changed the surface and the width. I then clicked on "Set to Selected".

After clicking on "OK" my new settings are gone and have been reverted back to the original surface and width.

I then close the Default Settings Window and draw a new link. It displays the old settings, not my changes.

For my new settings to be respected I first have to change the new link to my desired surface and width. The Default Settings Window will then accept my changes.

While the extra step is only a minor inconvenience, it did take me a while to figure out that I had to change the link first.

cheers,
Lane

You are using the set default to currently selected which will use the values of the link you made. Make your changes and click Close not Set to Selected

Thanks, Jon.

I really need to try to learn this stuff in the light of day and not on the far side of midnight.

cheers,
Lane
