• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Small concern with lofting...

Hi,

I've made a loft for my runway edge tarmac and lines, the only problem I'm having with it is that I can never get the loft to be exactly level with the runway base poly, as the loft is created raised above the original path, like in the tutorial in the wiki. However, it mentions that all that is needed to do is lower it to the poly, but I can't get it level with it, because the poly is at height 0 but for some reason the loft is also at height 0, so I can't match them, and I can see it floating slightly in the sim.

So how do I bring a loft down to 0 if gmax says it's already at 0?

Thanks.

What I do (and I just do it cause it works) is select the loft lower it by half the loft width. So if I am making a 0.5m wide line I lower the loft by 0.25 which puts it on the ground.

I might be missing something. There might be more of a science to it than I am aware of.

I gave this a go, the loft is 8.183m wide, so I lowered by 4.0915 (I know it's an awkward number) ,but it was nowhere near the ground, I lowered it until it was at the ground and it was about 11m, this is different for different lofts, some are at different heights but they all are at 0.

Always any of your Design Tools will represent AGL. This is was is meant to be "0".
So, keep in mind that afcad, or what ever definition tool has been taken into consideration to define AGL which is what drives your "0 ground edge", might be usefull.

You can manually programm that or take any of those tools like ADE9X.
At least with the last one you can change AGL suiting your needs.
