• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

hello,

i am in the process of creating another airport, and i am clearing an area of land to start the area from scratch.

so far, i have created the airport in fsxplanner

and in sBuilderX
-xclude rectangle(all objects)
-ab_xclude_autogen(around airport area to be used)
-xclude_all_terrain_items(around airport area and a bit more)
however after these modifications, the area is flattened to specified 60m. but when loaded into fsx, a few trees still show up, how do i get them removed?

attached are a few pics of the airport showed the flattened area and the section where trees are.

You should only need to do two processes in SBX, an exclusion rectangle and a shape based polygon for your airport background. The shape based polygon would get tagged with Airport Background Flatten Exclude Autogen. Then set the elevation in meters. I don't know what the exclude all terrain items is for and I don't know if it's the the cause of the autogen failure on the outlying areas.

Are you synching to FSX as you do your work in SBX?

that still does not work, can you look @ the pics i have attached in the previous post to see what i am referring to

I don't use SBuilderX so I can't say how to do it but what you need is an airport bacground that excludes autogen. Lance's suggestion to use Airport Background Flatten Exclude Autogen certainly look right to me

Looking at the photos and without having actual files to look at, it seems as though the boundaries of the SBX polygon don't match the boundary of the airport aprons. While FSX is a resource hungry application, it is possible to have it running (in windowed mode) along side SBX and your airport utility. Then by synching both SBX and the airport utility to FSX you can see in each design utility how it's polygons / aprons match up. If you go this route, I recommend starting the two utilities before starting FSX, as that seems to have less of an impact on the performance of the utilities.
