• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

P3D v4 Specifying Airline Parking In Airport Design Editor

I want to get my ai for VT-31 to park in designated parking spots at NAS Corpus Christi KNGP. I have the manual and read how it is supposed to be done. Neither "CNV" which is supposed to be the ICAO for "Navy" from Flightradar24 the real life site nor S-2 which is in the MRU airline list for the S2F Tracker put them where I have designated in the parking spot and even on Sunday when none are supposed to be flying only one of the five is parked NOT in the designated parking. Since CNV is not in the MRU airline list, how do I add it if that is the problem? I have this as the airline in the aircraft.cfg for the five ai aircraft. Help please.

I just type it in rather than using the drop down box.

Keep in mind that there are other factors that control parking. For example, the spot must be equal or larger in radius than the airplane, or it will not park there no matter the code.

The parking spots I assigned WERE two small so I Googled the wingspan of the TS2A which is 72 feet 7 inches and the length 44 feet 6 inches. So from the ADE manual the parking spot is 1/2 of the wingspan or in this case 36 feet 3+ inches so I changed each one to 37 feet but that did not make any difference. ADE still put the ai and not all five at arbitrary parking.

Well, "my face is red". The reason I only have two AI besides the A/C I am flying is that there are only two of them AT KNGP at that time according to the AI flight plan, duh! When I have made a larger flight plan with more aircraft at KNGP in the morning, I will probably fill the remaining parking specified. Thank you for your help. The radius was a good call. These two are STILL not showing up at the specified parking. I guess they are NOT required to park there just because it says they can, right? It just prevents other aircraft from parking there.

The aircraft radius is half of the wingspan value in the aircraft.cfg file. Nothing to do with actual reality. :)

The aircraft.cfg "wing span" is 72.8 feet or the same of the above, so that isn't the problem. If I put a value like: VT27; VT28; VT31; VT29 for the ICAO in each of the parking spots and place the appropriate values in the flightsim[xx] that might work, I am going to try that.

Note also that these codes are case sensitive, CNV is not the same as cnv.

I took the trouble of coding each parking spot that the TS2A would fit in with VT31 and the large spots with VT29 for the T-29 (CV240). I am coming to the conclusion as in so many cases, that flight simulation is written for commercial aviation NOT military aviation and it didn't matter that I coded the spots VT31 where I wanted them and I added the codes to the MRUAirline.dat in P34 in ADEx. Prepar3D V4.5 puts them where it wants to It appears that if they are not American or United or Delta, it's a moot point. I am going to try and code the five VT-31 AI with an obscure commercia airine ICAO and put that in the airline in the aircraft.cfg and see what happens and fool the sim.

Nope. It seems to park wherever it wants to put the aircraft. I coded VTP code for the VTA group for the ai five and it didn't park any there, it put one next to my flyable TS2A in the VT29 parking. Phooey. Enough time wasted. Thank you for trying to help. I am going to go back to the paintshop where I know I can be successful. have a great rest of the day.

The wingspan of the S-2 is 22.12 m, rounded to 23 m in ADE/FS. That’s equivalent to 75.45 feet. Have you tried 23 m/76 ft? I’m not sure, but I think these figures need to be entered in metres in ADE.
Best regards.

Yes. IMO P3D puts the aircraft where it wants to not at the airline parking I have specified. I already cheked the aircraft.cfg like Tom said and the radius of the parking is correct.
