• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Did you maybe use VTP polygons instead of landclass? I know with the VTP photo tiles that SBuilder can also place, you also had those lines sometimes.

Hi there,

using VTP polys in FS9 has two unfortunate issues that are hard-coded in the sim: the texture tiles are flipped vertically (meaning the default autogen won't align properly anymore, at least in agricultural and urban classes) and there's an issue with the mipmapping that at some distance from the user aircraft exposes the underlying land class, which are those linear gaps your screenshots shows.

Thus, you want to avoid VTP polys as much as possible or at least place land class below them that has low contrast to your poly textures.

An alternative approach is to do the opposite of what appears logical. Say you want to place a well-defined urban texture inside a forested area. Instead of placing an urban poly on the forest land class you place urban land class and then use forest polys to delineate the urban area from the outside. This way it's more likely that the polygons (forest) are mostly over forest land class so the linear gaps won't be visible.

Fortunately, both issues have been fixed with FSX.

Cheers, Holger

In fact the Sbuilder lanclass creator s largely enough for now , i couldn t manage to make it work , in fact it worked the zoom was too strong i was just few kilometers beside the scene . Concerning FSX i don t have it , i think it s a good soft but well personnally smoothness s a paramount argument in flight simulations so i wait a little maybe with new AMD processors ..? Thanks :)
