Jon,
This subject was touched on in another thread today. From my own experience I can say that just having ADE and FSX open at the same time is not a problem for me. I use both in full window mode and have just one or the other viewable on the screen at one time. I never see the delayed closing if I am not connected to FSX. When I am connected to FSX whether the edit box closes quickly or delays seems to have some relationship to the proximity of the aircraft symbol. IE the closer the item that you are editing to the aircraft symbol the more likely you are to have a delay in the edit box closing. Once the edit box doesn't close you cannot access any button on the main ADE screen in the background. You cannot click the disconnect button.(oh you can click on it but all you are going to get is that !%&* ringing bell) In general the edit box will close but the amount of time that it takes can be thirty seconds to several minutes. Yesterday I was working on a vehicle path. The aircraft symbol was directly over the path. I edited the path to change its' width. The graphic updated on the screen but the edit box did not close. After several minutes I clicked on the top of the edit box and moved it a small distance to see if I could encourage it to close. This resulted in my no longer being able to move the mouse pointer into the task bar area. After several more minutes, about 8 or 9 total since I had clicked ok on the edit box, I used task manager to close FSX. The edit box closed immediately and I went on without any other issues. I now know never to move the edit box while it is frozen. At this point I advise waiting it out or closing FSX as the two best solutions to get that edit box closed. I don't know what you can do with this but as you must know most of us are way to impatient to deal with this and keep our cool. Thanks for your help.
