• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi,

Three weeks ago we expected the FSX GMAX SDK's and Compiler within a few days. We are very patient, but I fear that this software could be released together with Vista and we have to pay for it... again. Hope this will be not the case (because this would be a big fraud). Really all designers wish to start working for a better FSX.
May the ACE Team deliver the needed software and manuals very soon and give us more information about the time of release.

Is it available for download yet and... where ? Or have to wait a little bit more ?
In any way: good news ! :)

He said beta version Jose :). So the beta tester can already play with it and see if everything works fine (and I think it does). So it should be there soon now.

Does it come with documentation? If so, are beta testers allowed to release it?

BEta testers are not be allowed to release any of the software/documentation. However, threats of torture (Marathon teletubbies/BArney sessions) and/or bribes (suitable libations, adult beverages, even chocolates) may sufficiently challenge the mental stability of a tester or two ....

So far it hasn't worked for me, but for someone else, who knows?

Question for Doug

Will the FSX GMAX SDK be made available to people how bought the Standard Edition of FSX?

David

One has to wonder how they're going to distribute it though. I'd would have though it would be a general download.

What would you think of an installer that requires you to have the SDK installed already (so that it is an update to the current SDK)?

I think I can say that this is how the current beta version works, so most likely the final version will also take that approach. But don't take my word on it :).

Sneaky, but in a perverse sort of way, I like it.

As an aside, I wonder if that sneaky SDK installer would also create a gmax FS-X gamepack that would reside within the gamepacks folder, next to the FS2002, CFS3, and FS2004 gamepacks?

But then again, I wouldn't take your word that that is how it would work. I'll have to wait my turn.

Aha! The simple solutions are always the best!

FSX SDK is currently only available with FSX Deluxe. I'm not aware of any plans to change that.

Thanks for the reply Doug. I was going to add the question about the distribution of the updated SDK's for the Deluxe edition, but got called away on a RL matter.

As Arno said the installer could check to see which version you have.
