• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

The 3rd source should probably be TIFF, not GeoTIFF.

You are specifying the location and pixel dimensions.

The only other possibility is that your TIFF file is not right. What you need for a blendmask is greyscale 8-bit tiff. Most paint programs can save this format.

Black would be invisible, white would be visible.

I made up 2 bitmaps and a TIFF for a blendmask, and compiled them with your INF file, and it worked just fine. So the INF is right.

Resample may have issued a warning, but it also tells you "Resample completed successfully."

Have you checked the BGL file to see how it looks? The header information being different from what Resample "may like" to see does not mean it still won't be processed.

Worry when it says "Compile failed".

If you save files using Photoshop you get these tag warnings ..but they don't seem to matter at all.

Just as the warning says the tag is ignored ... I would ignore the warning.

convert to grayscale 8-bit, 16-bit or mode bitmap still error. :(
or may be if you dont mind PM me your tiff to compare, I have 200MB tif file and slow upload to forum from here.

yup, I checked with TmfViewer its normal transparancy even in FSX, but still there are a boat on the runway.

I cannot ignore the warning because my ground layer doesnt have a water mask, but resample give me a water with boat on the runway.:D

When you say you have a "boat" in your runway ... do you mean you need a boat, because there is water all over it ...

If there is a boat ... this will not be due to the TIFF files.

If there is water it is not because of your ignored Tags, it will be related to the underying Landclass, and adding a LandWater Mask channel (even if it is all White) should remove the water.

This happens from time to time (particularly with coastal areas!)

FWIW .. I get these unknown tag errors with EVERY inf file ... because I save the TIf files with Photoshop CS4 ... they don't matter ... there is just metadata in the TIFF that resample doesn't understand.

hello hcornea,

I use only 'Channel_BlendMask' not landwatermask so it should be no water on the runway.

FWIW .. I get these unknown tag errors with EVERY inf file ... because I save the TIf files with Photoshop CS4 ... they don't matter ... there is just metadata in the TIFF that resample doesn't understand.

this is result when I ignored a message, there is a boat on the taxiway and sometimes on the runway, grass turn into water.

I suspect it is a tif file, but have not found where the fault is.

The boat, however is not at all due to your resample imagery ... something else is placing that there .. and there is clearly some "water" associated scenery elements.

The LandWaterMask will take care of the visual terrain elements .. but you may get a "splash" when coming off the runway ... and you'll have to seek out the boat (which could be part of the Living World AI)

The boat will appear if there is a hydro-poly (check the default cvx in TmfViewer). You will need to exclude/re-draw the hydro-polys in that area.

Edit. There are two lakes on the edge of the airfield, you will need to exclude and re-define them:

Note. There is also a larger lake or coastline in the same QMid11 rectangle, this may also need re-defining.

wew... it works! :p

I added a tif file and 'Channel_LandWaterMask' with all white image/ no transparancy.

now I get it if want to make a transaparancy so Channel_LandWaterMask & Channel_BlendMask must be exist in INF file. :D

thanks you guys expert! :greenflag

the easiest way if you have photoshop is to add alpha1 and alpha2 channels to your TIFF... You can make both alpha channels completely 255,255,255 white and that should make your life easier.

As for the tagging errors, I get the same thing when re-inserting geotags into the TIFF's via geotifcp.exe, it's just extraneous metadata and doesn't affect the output, although it is a little disconcerting.
