• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi guys,

I am having an issue with a MAIW flight plan. I am getting errors as shown for FP#29, but when I look at the plan I cannot see these errors. For what ever reason (these errors I assume) the aircraft fails to spawn and follow the plan. I can get the a/c to spawn for another plan I write myself so its not an aircraft issue. :banghead:

Grateful for any help.

OK, firstly the leg numbers you should be looking for are on the right hand side, not the left.
So leg #1 is actually the fourth one on the list. The error tells you that the issue is a timing issue with the previous leg, which in this case the one before #1 is #13. In this case it is the third one in your list. File ref number rather than leg number.

So once you have fathomed that out it is quite easy to spot the issue. Leg #13 lands on Tuesday at 08:08 and then leg#1 has it taking off on Tuesday at 06:56 - 72 mins before it lands.

That is the error and that is why you can't see the aircraft in game. Now generally speaking there are a few things you can do, like ensure that all non-TNG legs arrive at the time that AIFP suggests (ETA) but in this case it won't help.
The easiest thing to do is push the leg #1 flight back from 06:56 departure to a later time. I chose 09:56 (Why you will see in a minute). You then have to ensure that there is no knock on effect.

Now the problem with leg#13 is similar it departs on Tuesday at 01:06, 43 mins before leg#12 lands.
To get around this problem I ensured that the legs has the correct land time and ended up shifting the times for both legs#12 and 13 to ensure that leg#1 did not have a new problem. As the pic shows.

Now as it is one of our flight plans that caused you consternation I invite you to come to us first to fix a data issue, rather than posting on the forum for the tool.

Hope this helps explain the issue and the fix.

Hi Steve

Thanks for the help. I did not know that the leg was the number to the right not the left. I am assuming this is the case with all plans generated by/viewed in AIFP. My apologies for not seeking help at MAIW first. I am a regular visitor there also but as I could not see the issue to begin with I believed it was perhaps an AIFP issue. I'll get to and make the changes you suggested.
Thank you again :wizard:.

Glad to have helped.
I am sure that Don has covered the legs display in his manual but in simple terms, the numbers on the left are the legs in week/date/time order. The ones on the right are the order that they appear in the flightplans file.

It goes without saying that normally the leg numbers would be the same but if the planner has for some reason mixed them up you get to see the difference. As you saw the errors correspond to the original coding rather than Don's nice linear display.

To make the left and right order the same, you have to change the AIFP from local time to UTC.
This will also make troubleshooting easier.
