• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Time to Retire

Thank you, Jon, for the time and dedication that you have devoted to the community. A lot of attention goes to those making things we can see directly, and never enough to people that help us create the underpinnings of everything we see in the sim, people such as yourself and Lee Swordy, back in the day. We enjoy the symphony, applaud the orchestra, but someone had to create those instruments, without which...

Jon, how and where can I leave a small acknowledgment in the form of a donation?
Hi Christian. That is a very kind thought. I have closed down my donation buttons but, if you have PayPal you can send money direct to me via my email address. jon AT scruffyduck DOT org.

Jon, I use ADE and other apps that you have built over the years, daily. No I have not made the jump to MSFS, but ADE for P3D is awesome and your help and support for the past many years is totally TOP NOTCH. I cannot thank you enough for being there when I needed to pull my head out of that dark place.
Enjoy the time with family and friends and MANY MANY THANKS!!

Cheers Mate....wheels up!

Hi Jon.
Yes, I have PayPal and considering your great commitment over many years and the fact that you have been a great help to me with your Airport Design Editor program, the donation turned out to be a bit larger.
I hope that many will read this and join me with a donation :)

Dear Jon and company,

Thank you to all involved for such an amazing software that without it our flight sim would be very very dull. Building OMDW is going to take hours of mega work left to do but is going to be well worth it thanks to the great features in ADE. It's really fun to build/edit with it, thanks for the help you've appointed me in that topic. Long live ADE, long live this site, hoping there will be always support around for projects. I don't know if a thank you is enough but I'm sure many would really mean it as a serious manner so again thank you so very much, it is much appreciated. Take care, enjoy the times and see you around we hope.

Thank you Christian for your generous donation. I have received it. It is much appreciated

Jon. Enjoy the retirement. Maybe you’ll have time to fly… Kelly Slater gave up surfing to go surfing 🤣 I retired and am still working. Thanks for all the work, chats and news form your side of the world. Stay safe!

Well the title says it all. I have been working on flight sim and especially ADE since around 2006. Now is the time to set aside these things. My private life with my family needs to take first place.

I want to thank everyone over the years who have used my software and contributed to it's development. There a long list of people - too long to list here but you know who you are.

As to the future the websites will stay up and I will still be around here primarily as an administrator of the forums but also as an occasional contributor to the posts and converstations

Meanwhile thanks again and I wish you all clear skies
Wish you good luck for the future, I had been a silent user and occasional follower but will definitely miss what you contributed to the community. Good luck again and have fun doing what you love.

Jon, your retirement is well deserved but leaves me with mixed feelings - of course. Thanks a lot for your fantastic contributions without those our flightsim would not be what it is.

Michael

Jon,
Family and real life are first level commanders! Wishing you all the best for your new itinerary in life.
Thank you for your contribution to the community, which is just but a huge milestone for many of us.
Thank you also to all the people who contributed to the masterpiece you have created and developped year after year following the simulators evolution.
Have good time with your family, relatives and friends, and enjoy a more than well deserved retirement!
Greetings from Paris, France

Thanks Jon for a wonderful tool. I used it to create airports and scenery for FSX and then a little in MSFS and you also were always there to help me even when I must have been a pain in the ar__ .

Hi Jon,

Enjoy your retirement, well deserved.

I made three simple airports in FSX to include all the waypoints to complete the Silver Spitfire round the world flight in 2019 using your wonderful ADE program. Then I was able to help a good friend re-build his private airport, first built in FS98. The resulting FSX airport looked completely professional thanks to your great ADE software.

Very grateful for all you have contributed to make our collective enjoyment of Flight Simulator much greater than it would have been without you!

Well the title says it all.
Yes Jon, it does. However, during the last months I'd been quite seldom here around, rather more virtual flying and still behind the knowledge needed for developing anything for MSFS. Thanks a lot for all your efforts and help.

Hey, please don't forget that I still owe you a dinner here in Berlin, even if a visit may not be as easy as in former times - before the Brexit.

Thank you Jon for all you have done for the FS community. You are one of the few creators whose achievements are useful, even essential, for all developers. Several of my airports have a bit of Scruffyduck in them!

Take advantage of your family because, in the end, that's the most important thing.
