• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Time to Retire

This is one of those threads in General Chat I had to reply to: Thank you for everything you have contributed with over the years here on FSDev Jon! Be it all the scenery dev help and tips, or the amazing tools and wiki you've made for all of us to use which made our dev life so much easier; such as the one and only ADE!
I sincerely hope you enjoy your retirement, spending as much time as you can with your family!
Cheers!

Hi Jon. I haven't been around for nearly two years by now. I log in just in time to read your swan song. Thanks ever so much for the very long and wonderful development of ADE.

Jon, thank you. I retired, myself, in 2007. Nearly all of my retirement days and evenings have been occupied by the enjoyment of creating freeware airports using ADE. I can't possibly overstate my appreciation.

Jon, thanks so much for your all your work and dedication. Honestly I don't know where we would be today in FS without you.
Wishing you the best with your retirement.

Well the title says it all. I have been working on flight sim and especially ADE since around 2006. Now is the time to set aside these things. My private life with my family needs to take first place.

I want to thank everyone over the years who have used my software and contributed to it's development. There a long list of people - too long to list here but you know who you are.

As to the future the websites will stay up and I will still be around here primarily as an administrator of the forums but also as an occasional contributor to the posts and converstations

Meanwhile thanks again and I wish you all clear skies
All the best to ya. Stick around to answer questions now and then, but yes, family first. Bob

Jon, as someone getting older myself and finding it harder to keep up with everything, I completely understand your decision. Your programming ability will be missed, but the appreciation for what you've done for the Flight Simming developers will not be.All the best to you and your family.

Thanks for your great work all these years.

I have just one request - could you now make your source available on Github or such so that other programmers can pick up the slack and run with further improvements?
It would be such a waste for your knowledge acquired over so many years to simply disappear or come to an abrupt halt.

Over the years have seen beautiful and useful apps for Flight sim simply disappear even from the Internet Archive with the developers also disappearing from the scene and being un-contactable.

Thanks again.

Thanks so much for all you have done for the community, and for me. Best Wishes for the Future, Martin

Thank you very much Jon for your work, I think it is the best tool for building airports, have a good life and enjoy your family.:)

Ps sorry for the delay, I just read it now

thanks for your contributions and effort. I've learned a lot here. I retired and began my work on my projects.

I can't tell you how much fun it has been for me over the years recreating some of the airports in ADE that I flew to in real life. Many thanks and best wishes for a fulfilling retirement.

Just wanted to let you know I am now creating custom ground polys with your tool for MSFS, so ADE will remain to be relevant for years to come.

Thank you Jon for your dedication, you have been an essential part of my development "hobby".

David

Hey Jon, have you handed the reigns over to anyone? If I had the source code, I can put it up on github so it can continue to be developed by the MSFS Community

He has mentioned already that it is not being handed over or given to any site. If that changes, I'm sure he will tell everyone.
