• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Umeå for FSX

Hello,
I'm planning to start a new payware project, this time I'm willing to do Umeå (ESNU) airport in Sweden.
I would like to know if anyone here would be interested just to have an idea of the popularity this add-on would have if I publish it.

Thanks :)

I wouldn't buy it. (Only bought one payware add-on in the last four years.)

(You wanted an answer, you got one.)

If I had to choose between getting such an ungrateful answer and not getting one at all, I would choose the second option. Peace.

One typically doesn't feel any sort of need to exhort a mainstream point of view so consider that OP.

I wonder why when I post something nobody ever replies :/
Asking such a question at a website for developers is probably not the best place you could choose. After all, since most of the people here are developers, we rarely (if ever) buy anything we could make ourselves...

AVSIM, Flightsim.com, Sim Outhouse, and such user web forums would be far better places to inquire I should think.

I agree, I also think the development community is just a smaller part of the total FS community... after all most simmers won't develop, but they might verry well be member of the site you name... So it would be better to post the question there, I think you'd get more replies...

ADD: Personally I don't know the airport so I wouldn't know if I'd buy it... Would kinda depend on the airline occupation for that airport (I saw on wikipedia it is SAS and Finnair e.g.) wich for me is a positive buy-point so to say and the quality with wich it was made.... But would the amount of pretenitial buyers influence your dicision to make an airport? I'd say just do it if you want to make that airport ;)

Just take a look at what ORBX is doing.

No one even knew about Samoa, and yet they can sell it.

Because it is quality stuff, interesting, and looks nice.

Either you make spitfires, mustangs 737s and C172s, or popular airports like Heathrow/LAX etc, or you follow your heart and enjoy yourself, I tend to follow my heart and enjoy myself, I also dont tend to buy much scenery as no one makes what I like, so I make it myself, which is why I'm here anyway..

Go for it :D

I love the idea of developers making airports/aircraft I never get to the chance to fly into in real life. I'm a ATPL (ATP for the Northern Americans out there)-student, so if I can get a realistic approach into any major airport I'll love it. But you have to ask yourself the question (especially as a payware developer), are people interested in the airport you'll be developing. If they are that's great, you'll gave my full support! If not, why bother makung it a payware airport. (Assuming that you want to make money out of your talents). In my opinion it's far more rewarding to develop a high quality freeware/donationware airport that many people like, than a payware airport that is of high quality but nobody buys. But of course the choise is up to you. And, like several persons before me said: this forum might not be the best place to ask the payware/freeware question. Anyways, I wish you all the luck in this project! And whatever it turns put to be (freeware or payware), you'll have my full support!
