Hi guys,
I have just discovered these forums, so please forgive an almost exact duplicate of a post I put on another forum. This one is far more appropriate though!
Is it possible to use FS(9 or X) as a flight data "playback" engine rather than something with a dynamic flight model?
I would like to program something which could "stream" data from a source (eg another simulator, live data from a UAV, data from a FDR or QAR etc.) using a custom module into FS and have the aircraft and gauges/displays respond to that data, rather than to a predetermined physical flight model....
Background follows this post for anyone interested enough to read it!
Many thanks,
Martin Hughes

I am currently looking at ways of visualising the flight of a UAV when it is beyond visual range and only sending flight data back to the ground (not a live video feed).
I realise that I would have to "model" the world it is flying in exactly to the real world, but to be honest that would only really be an issue at low altitudes (ie take off and recovery), when the vehicle would be close enough for a video link to be operational.
FS would also be a good way to "rapid prototype" different cockpit displays and gauges before developing them as separate applications.
