• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.

Vb.net programs in FS

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to figure out how its possible to make an interface with buttons run inside FS, sort of like a gauge. I program in VB.net and I've been able to create an external application communicate with FS via Fsuipc.

My goal now is to let that program run inside FS, so people can use it while in a flight etc.. Is it possible make Vb.net program run inside FS, or at least convert it to a Gauge file?

Thanks in advance,;)

I am a .NETer myself, except I do C#. Like you I have been able to write external applications that communicate with FS using C# (there is an excellent library in the simflight.com forums.

Unfortunately the only way you can get something to run inside FS is if you write it in C++ (ugh! makes me puke) and while I have written millions of line of code in C and C++ I just don't care with that sort of programming anymore.

I think you best choice is to program an XML gauge or program a C++ gauge where I think #1 is the best.
