• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

P3D v3 What have I done now?

Things had been going pretty well after I cleared up the issue with the textures and the runway links until I tried to add jetways to this scenery they didn't show up. Other sceneries have them but not this one it is like the new version of ADE (1.75.6421 Pro) isn't compiling them.
I did make a change in the location of my addon scenery files to another drive but that is the only changes I have made.

Thanks for your help.

Why don't you save the xml and check whether they are present?
George,

Thanks for your response.
I sort of know what xml is but only in relation to all the finagling we had to do when P3Dv3 first came out to get some of the add on programs to function. How the xml works with objects is above my pay grade:confused:

Can you walk me through it please?

Is this what you meant?

<Jetway
gateName="GATE"
parkingNumber="6">
<SceneryObject
lat="-34.5572841471742"
lon="-58.4131866712656"
alt="0.0M"
altitudeIsAgl="TRUE"
pitch="0"
bank="0"
heading="301"
imageComplexity="EXTREMELY_DENSE">
<LibraryObject
name="{bfcdf52b-9142-415c-8318-03c1b92ca9d9}"
scale="1.00"
/>
</SceneryObject>
</Jetway>

That looks like a jet way. The other thing you can do is to load back to bgl file you created into ADE and see if they show up. Please note that we do not recommend doing this as a general approach but it is a good way to see what actually gets compiled. Make sure not to save that as a project file but just look at it and then delete it

Thanks Jon,

Okay if I understand you correctly: I went to my scenery folder and loaded the bgl and yes the jetways are there.
Obviously I didn't understand the process very well I thought that is what got loaded when I open up ADE.
Do you think this is in someway connected to me moving my addon scenery folder to another drive?
I can't imagine how, but that is the only change I have made in the sim.
Thoughts?

Tom

The ADE file is a project file, it contains information used to create several .bgl's that are needed to render an airport. These .bgl's are of different types and can't be combined - except through the ADE file. When you import one of those bgl's, it is to inspect for proper compilation. Because of the multiple .bgl situation, you should always work exclusively from the ADE file. If you work from the .bgl Jon asked you to locate, you will likely find a need to replace, or even change details that have already been compiled into those other .bgl's.

Is the scenery level in P3D set to 'max'? The jetways are set at "Extremely_Dense" in ADE.

Rick thanks for the info. There is so much that I still have to learn seeing that I can't just go to the textbook so to speak. While the manual gives the basics it can't possibly cover all we need to know. Then it falls to those of us that have that knowledge. That is why I appreciate so much the everyone in this world wide community
Ray thank you for your response yes it is set to max. All my other sceneries have jetways in them.
I also just tried putting the scenery back into the root Addon Scenery and still no jetways.
Next I am going to another airport and add on just to see if that works.

Tom

Okay I officially have no idea what to do. I tried copying the airport object bgl file from P3D into my ADE library directly and I still have no animated jetway showing in the sim. I can add static ones I can add the NY ones but not the stock ones. This never happened until I updated ADE in my logic that is where the problem is. All the Jetways show up that were in the sim prior to my update but I cannot add them to save my life.
Jon, Tom anybody help please.

Please attach the project file (, ad4 extension) to a post here so that Evan look at it

Will do. Right now I have uninstalled (I did use the installer this time) ADE 1.175 and trying to see if I can add jetways using 1.71.6177 that I had before.
Hope this helps.
Quick update: using the 1.71 ADE I was able to successfully add a jetway to a diff airport. I have to be gone for a few hours but when I return I will try to re-install the 1.75 version and see if I can do same.
See if there is something amiss in the file I sent you.

I have compiled your project file for P3D v3 and can confirm that the jet ways are not showing. However I can also confirm that they are compiled. I loaded the compiled bgl file back into ADE as we discussed previously and the jetways are there including one that I added.

This leads me to wonder why P32D v3 is not displaying them. The only things I can think of are
  • The GUID that ADE is generating is not recognized by P3D v3 so it is not displaying them.
  • The scenery complexity setting is suppressing them - I set mine to extremely dense and the jetway I added was set to normal
  • Some other issue that eludes me
Please note that I don't know of any changes between 1.71 and 1.75 that might affect jetways - they are being compiled. We have not touched the jetway code in years - unless we have somehow messed it. I am going to try the project file in 1.71 myself now

Load a stock airport with jetways into ADE. Edit one of the jetways

and check the GUID - is this the same as the jetways you are adding or different?

Jon,

My sincerest apologies. It was my fault. When I found that I could add jetways successfully to other airports I decided to go back and scrap my entire project and that is when I realized that I wasn't working from the stock airport I had downloaded a series of Argentinian airports off Flightsim.com. I tore SABE down to everything except the runway and some trees but there must be something integral to that scenery that messed up my ability add jetways and get them to show up in the sim. So the good news I am back to ADE 1.75 and was able to add jetways to the stock airport. The bad news is of course I will have to redo my entire airport:(. Oh well I probably don't have anything better to do.
Thanks all of you who helped me through this.

Tom

That's a pain Tom, but at least you have a solution.
