• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Where are the trees?

8 miles by road......

I'll give up on the trees for now. The machine I was playing around with the files on now suddenly tells me it can't find the operating system.
I must get it seen to......

Thank you very much for your help in all this.
Best wishes,
Terry.

Strange things have been happening. On Friday evening I got a blue screen, followed by a refusal to log into windoze 7.....I had to use the dvd to get things rolling. Then some textures didn't show up. I assumed gremlins were in the works.

2 scans didn't show any bugs lurking anywhere. I ran TuneUp Utilities, then removed FS9 & pasted a copy from the machine I use to show Ibsely at events, etc. All seems well, except I notice gaps in the grass......I'll checked old screenshots but I'm sure they're much more obvious now than if they have been present in the past.....

PS: Avatar's of Ibsley Station HQ (a requisitioned 17C manor house) I cobbled together....

Is it possible that your custom ground textures are somehow different in your copied version as opposed to your original version?

FS uses some blend mask textures to hide hard edges of the ground textures. It looks like there might be a problem with those blend masks. I do not fully understand how they work, especially for the park texture you are using for your poly.

If you look at a series of landclass textures, say 008b2??n.bmp, you will see 008b2m1n.bmp. These are the blend masks. The park texture doesn't have a blend mask so I am not sure where to point you. Maybe the SDK will have an answer.

Hope you get your PC issues straightened out.

cheers,
Lane

The gaps disappear as I get closer.....they appear in whole sheets of textures which is odd & not where I've lined any up side by side!!
I'll make another file to see what happens!

Yes - machine seems to be OK now after being threatened with a hammer ;-)
Thanks for your help.
Terry.
