• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Windmill kills autogen

Hi,

I made a windmill with 3 different windspeeds and turning to winddirection.
This already took som hours. now I found out that the model kills alot of autogen around my area? The model compiled without tweaking ASM has no problem with autogen...
What is the problem? Did somebody have simular experience?
Thanks for help

Hi Christoph,

I'm not a coder at all :o but to me it seems that by tweaking the windmill the bounding box expands too much. I can't think of another reason for the disappearance of Autogen.

That's a wonderful question - for Arno. :D

As I said before: I'm no coder and know about the bounding box only because Arno talks about it all the time... :o

Edit: By the way: It's Thorsten. :)

I'm not sure, but I think that you should make a big box covering all you model, and then apply a material with Opacity = 0. This method is used for creating bounding box on effects or some other attachments, so it might work with animations either.

Regards,
Fergo

The animation is not the problem. I I compile the model only with animation, the autogen comes up to the windmill. So no problem.
After I included the different commands for only showing 1 wheel depending on wind speed and changing winddirection the autogen is gone in a huge area.

Lets see if somebody else had some experience. Arno will return in 2 weeks:(

As far as I know you can create and hopefully edit a bounding box with CAT ;)
There you can define the size.

I hope someone nows more detail to this phenomen, because I see it often and I also have such problems in my FS.

Hi Christoph,

Have you found out something already? I have not noticed this problem myself, I would have to check my windmill model to be sure.

Hi Arno back from your holidays? Did you have a nice time?

No I did not solve the problem. I still did not find out how to change this box.
If you want I can send you the mdl before I tweaked it (only animation) and after I tweaked it with windspeed factors.

The same problem I have with my windsocks:( They are much smaller and kill nearly the same autogen area...

Hi Christoph,

If you can mail me some MDL files that have the problem, I am certainly interested to take a look at it.

Hi Arno,

sorry for the late reply! It was not possible for me to work on FS for several months:(
As I can remember you found some mistake in the ASM code. I corrected this but did not have a result. If you agree I try to follow up our emails and will give you an feedback on the weekend. Maybe we can find a solution then.

Thanks for your help!

OK, just email me again.
