• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Would be nice if the KML tag tab would also have some sort of preview of the class. For example if it is a conifer forest, or a dry tropical forest. Otherwise you just have to tag it, compile, install, run the awefully slow FSX, slew there and oh my God! that is not how I want it to look! :)

Also an FSUIPC connection to the simulator to grab the coords of the plane (Slew), or to "fly to" and things like that given the amount of interaction one needs to test a scenery.

Other than that I am very happy with this tool, one of the best out there.

I'm trying to use FSX KML to work with airports. It's working, but it's a tedious, time consuming task. I take the KML and grab the coordinates, switch their reading because Lon comes before Lat, cut and paste into an XML template I have setup to create an Apron and then copy that over into FSXPlanner XML to compile. Cut and paste, cut and paste... a few thousand times!

There's much faster ways to do it. I did all the aprons and taxiways in my current project by drawing them in GE, then opening up the KML. I deleted everything except the coordinate list. After making sure each one was on its own line, I just replaced what I needed to. Like ,0 became "/> or ,-87 got replaced with " lon="-87 and so on. The only manual copying and pasting I needed to do was to move everything into the XML itself. Manually I did also replace the things like the numbers for taxiway points. But really using the replace function is much much faster than copying and pasting code bits.
