You all know the problem, every bigger airport has it and we don't have a working solution for simming, AFAIK.
I'm talking about parking spots used by aircraft which spend a few hours on ground waiting for their flight back to their home base, or just for the next scheduled flight. They arrive at a gate position unloading passengers and cargo, and then are towed to a remote position to allow other aircraft to use the jetway or gate. Every bigger airport does that. Vietnam Airlines or South African at EDDF, Qantas at KLAX, Air Austral at LFPG and lots more. And every bigger home carrier at their base too.
Question is - if we want to represent such behavior in FS / P3D - is this a hard coded AI traffic engine kind of thing, or something we can tackle with the help of an ADE / AFCAD update?
I am thinking of creating a new kind of parking spot, such as GATE or RAMP. Let's call it REMOTE. In the settings of this remote spot the user can choose the airlines using it, such as a normal gate. And I'm thinking of something like the ground time, which is minimum needed for an aircraft to actually use it. Let's say for example 2 hours. You also should be able to set the times between these 2 hours the aircraft actually uses the spot. 45 minutes after arrival to 45 minutes prior departure, for example.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not talking about the animation of an aircraft which is towed from the gate to the remote spot - that could be something for GSX or whatever. I just mean that if you start the sim at a busy airport, and let's say it's noon time at EDDF, South African should not park at the terminal anymore. But if I start less than 45 minutes prior it's scheduled departure, it should.
Is this something worth thinking about, or completely impossible in the existing AI engine?
