• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX All terrain flattened OK; except one "levée"

Hello,

in order to add a runway to a scenery, I flattened the terrain as usual (Airport Background poly).
On the whole it worked fine (never mind the cliffs in the background, and the cars going down them like lemmings :D), but there is one single terrain structure which I can't get rid of, no matter what kind of different or additional exclusion I try.

See screenshot attached: It's about the "sand dune" running right across the runway. It is a bit hard to see in the picture, but this is a real 3D structure, like a dam or levée.
At first I thought this might actually be a 3D scenery object, not terrain, but that seems not to be the case: It will "take on" the respective texture of whatever landclass I put on top of it. Or is this vector data?

It's probably relevant that all this is located in an area also covered by the "Orbx FTX England" scenery, which thoroughly changes the terrain of the place (and causes other complications, e.g. with landclass definitions and assignments). My scenery has a higher priority over everything from Orbx, but that seems not to be sufficient.

My general question:
What are the conditions which can prevent specific terrain areas/features from being flattened, even though the Flatten works OK all around them?

Thanks for all pointers.

Cheers,
Martin

PS. The (ILS or DME?) antenna near the "dune" is another item I cannot get rid of. It belongs probably to another runway nearby.
Are these default FSX scenery objects indestructibly and non-excludably linked to all ILS/DMEs?
