• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Comms List

Jon, simple question - adding a new airport to FSX and per their web site, their CTAF freq. is 122.900 but the comms list skips this freq. even though other airports use it. Is this an over site in creating the list or a Microsoft thing? Thanks for your time - having great fun messing with ADE.

ADE follows the 'rules' provided by MS for the setting of frequencies. If it is not in the list then it is likely either to be a frequency used by a nearby airport or one that is can't be set on the radio. If you have a ProKey then you can overcome these and set your own specific frequency. I can certainly set 122.900 at some airports so it seems possible that frequency is already used by a nearby airport. Now that does not mean that it might be used in the real world but it may cause problems in the Sim

Thanks for the come back, Jon. I have ProKey and I could not find a way to do what you suggested. Could you give me a shove in the direction I need to look? This is a small airpark that came into existence after FSX was published.
Thanks
Fred Z

Tools > Raw Data View. Find the Com entry you want to change in the tree under the airport header and edit the frequency in the center panel

The change is immediate and there is no undo. Also no checks for conflicts with frequency ranges or nearby airports. The compile will fail if you use a frequency outside the range specified by the compiler (not ADE)

Click Close when you are done

Make sure you make a backup first Fred
As Jon mentioned anything you do in the "Raw Data View" cannot be undone, be very careful what changes you make, you have been warned :)

To be fair there is no 'undo' function but you can go back into the RDV and reverse the change - assuming you remember what you did ;) However Ray is quite right and it is a timely reminder to make backups.

ADE provides a function to do a backup:

Thanks Jon and Ray. I have not done anything yet, but I will be verry careful!
