• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

R23 Exclusion Rectangles

Russell,

I wrote a while back, 2 versions ago about a better way to display exclusion rectangles. We need a way so that taxiway sign ones would not cover everything up so it make it hard to exclude scenery objects. I was wondering if just a outline of the rectangle not being filled in?

Why not create the rectangle, then turn off the option to show exclusion rectangles until you need to see it?

Yes, I haven't forgotten about this idea. It is on the list, we have just been concentrating on the bgl decompiler. We will revisit this idea and try to come up with a good way to implement it.

There are a couple of possibilities, but we need to do a bit more research before we decide which one is the best option.

With version 24 being released I was sorry to see this had not been resolved yet :( I have had to push my taxiway sign exclude to another BGL to not cover up the whole ariport as I get closer to finishing up my airport. It would be much cleaner not to have to do that.

We haven't figured out a good way to implement this yet without completely rewriting how exclusion rectangles are handled. So it is on the list, just no done yet.

Hopefully we'll have an epiphany and will be able to do it in two lines of code. :)

Good news - we have come up with what we hope is a very good solution to this issue. It will be available in the next release.
