• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Line up & wait

One thing that has always bugged me is how the ATC engine deals with Line Up & Wait (also known as Position & Hold). On some airports, FS9 has an aircraft moving into position almost as the on-runway aircraft commences it's take-off roll (ie. AI status Takeoff2). In others it resolutely sticks to only clearing a line-up once the departing aircraft has gone into En-route mode. Is there anyone who knows how the rules work on this?

Me, too. I want this something module or reading AI model or module need to be changes system. I would like to is not necessarily to be wait hold when the AI plane approach when the start 5.0 miles AI plane must wait and hold on taxi ground. 5 miles is a long way to arrive runway. Why can't change from 5.0 to 3.5 miles? AI plane can take take off before 3.5 approach to reach runway it is plenty of time. Also, I want AI plane a little quicker taxi out of the runway after rolling landing, too. ;)

Thanks,

Stuart

Not trying to be a SA, but the name of the program is "Flight Simulator" not "Airport Simulator"

It was never designed to have lineups of more than a couple aircraft waiting for takeoff, for having more than one or two aircraft in the pattern for landing, more than 20 aircraft at any airport at any one time, etc.

We push the capacity of the airports and the sim far beyond its design parameters.

Now as far as the original question.

I haven't tested to verify this but my memory is that airports with two parallel active runways seem to be more inclined to move the next aircraft in line onto the runway faster than airports with a single active runway.

I would assume, which might be completely wrong, that the code written by the contractors for AI aircraft control 'wait' until the departing aircraft clears the runway lockout to give incoming aircraft on a single active runway a chance to 'grab' the runway.

Because if it rolls an aircraft onto the runway, that runway is locked out for landing aircraft.

LOL, Microsoft's last major Flight Sim changes were in 2007 and you expect the program to account for real world changes in 2011/2012.

Having done some rudimentary examinations it appears that this is the case. Thank you.
