• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

FSX Blender Tool-set Beta For FSX/P3D Test Files

I can't manually choose my SDK. Help! I also can't export my model to mdl

Hi Kris,

I was testing v 0.903 but i found a problem using the FSX SDK. It is impossible to attach a visibility constraint to an animation. It is OK with the 0.85 version.

Cheers,
JMC
Hi gastonj!

I will check into it.

Thank You!

Hi VIAG!

I do not understand! Why can you not manually choose your SDK. You are going to have to be more specific with your problem.

Thanks, Kris

Hi Kris and everyone,

The new version of Blender2FSX seems to work very well! Thanks to Kris and MANOCHVARMA RAMAN for their wonderful contribution!

BUT ..., has anyone tried the method proposed by Bill in this thread? I try to succeed in setting up this dimmable texture, but it seems that the black texture (diffuse texture) has absolutely no effect on the whole texture described ... That is to say that the texture set in Blender's "Emit" slot produces these effects also on the blacks below!

Could anyone help me in this particular case?

Thanks for all the support ...
Hi Chris!

No, I have not tried anything like that before. After I get all the things tested that I am testing at the moment. I will see if I can get the dimmable texture to work.

At this time I am testing the tool-set with the new Blender version that is going to be released. Blender 2.79.

Thanks, Kris

Hello everybody,

Kris is still at work :) thanks

Kris I think you did not understand but "gastonj" has no problem,
He had forgotten to initialize the tool

Well, that's what I understood

Good luck

I'm a very beginning modeler (very literally as I just installed Blender for the 1st time a few minutes ago:)). Since 2.79 is the latest version and the tool is only compatible with 2.78, is there a way to download 2.78 version? Or will the tool work well enough with version 2.78 just so I can start tinkering with it (going through the youtube kpgamemods tutorials to create the simple airplane).

Thanks and I'm exited to start this challenging journey!

Rain effect in Glass Cockpit (P3Dv4)

Hello everyone,

you have probably noticed the possibility offered by P3Dv4.1 to include LUA scripts to insert, for example, rain effects on the windshield in the cockpit ...! It seems that this novelty can be added via textures managed by the LUA script in Prepar3D v4 \ Scripts \ PrecipWindshieldEffect.lua. But how to do with Blender2FSXP3D ...?

Thank you for your help...!

Rain effect in Glass Cockpit (P3Dv4) (UPDATE)

Hello everyone,

I found a solution, apart from Bender2FSXP3D: ModelConverterX, the version being developed, allows to insert a LUA script to a texture. Then just recompile the model for P3D v4. Note that the basic diffuse texture must be in DXT1 format. And it works...! :)

Good development to all!

Ladies and Gentlemen, I am at my wits end trying to get the Bender2FSXP3D tool set to work in Blender 2.79. I have followed the instructions in the thread
"Blender Tool-set Beta For FSX/P3D Test Files". After installing the files show up in the User/Blender Foundation folders of the C drive (Blender is installed on a separate [F] drive) addons/scripts folder but Blender does not show the FSX tab and going to User Prefs.-Add-Ons does not display the three add-ons for FSX/PD3. If I then manually drag the two files and the io_scenes folder into F drive addon folder, I get a message from Blender saying that I have the same files in two different locations. Deleting the files from one of the locations results in Blender not showing the files.

I have tried deleting all of the installations of Blender and reinstalling only 2.79. I tried to manually set the addon file location to the C: drive folder. None of that works. Blender just will not recognize the FSX/PD3 files.

Any ideas? I don't have much hair left as it is, and I am pulling what little I have out.

John

Hello John...

First,... let us see your add-on setup within the "User Preferences" screen (with the Addon tab visible), click on "Testing" in the "Supported Level" section (on the left hand side of the "User Preferences" screen). You might want to have it search for "FSX" (which is located above the "Supported Level" section),... You should see 3 addons (3D View: FSX Materials, 3D View: Toolset4FSX, & Import-Export: WIP - DirectX X format for FSX) ... they might or might not have check marks on them. Make sure that they do have check marks next to ALL of them.

If you don't see any of them... then install the addons using/ from the Zip file (there is no need to unzip the files what so ever).

To Install: click on button "Add-on from File..." then goto the zip file containing the add-ons (either double click on the zip file or with the zip file highlighted, click on the button marked, "Install Add-on for File...". Do not change anything concerning the location etc....

Make sure after either making sure they are marked with a check mark or after installing, click on the "Save User Settings" button.

The Testing button worked. :) I had not been hitting that. Once I did, the three files showed, I checked them and saved. The tab came up. Now, all I have to do is figure out how to point it to the correct SDK.

Thank you!

Hi Chrismot,

The latest Blender2FSX/P3D toolset allow you to add material script. You may try it and report how it works. You can download it from here.
